Lacrosse Program for SUMMER 2015: Boys 5th and 6th Grade Travel Team 
M
any 5th and 6th grade players around the country play lacrosse during the Spring and well into the Summer season.  By combining this extra play with a focus on skills development, Woodstock Travel will help young players prepare for the next level of lacrosse. In addition, they will learn the essential elements of  hard-work, team-work, and fun.


The Program:
Players - Will be invited to join the “Travel” team through a tryout system.  Formal summer tryouts will be held in early May to give every player the opportunity to make the team.  

Practices -
2 times per week at the Pomfret School Field running from June 16th to mid-August. The focus will be on developing the individual skills that develop top level lacrosse players while, at the same time, working on lacrosse decision making and strategies.  


Tournaments
- 2 to 3 tournaments with a focus on challenging competition. Tournaments will be announced in early April. 


Camps
– The team will find a camp and negotiate a group rate; however, attendance is not required 


Cost:
Summer Team Fees = $90.00 (
Includes reversible jersey), 2 practices per week, equipment and field expenses) 

Optional:
Spring Skills Camp = TBD
Summer Camp = TBD
Summer Lacrosse Camp = TBD



 



 





 

Expectations
Players will be invited to join the “Travel” team through a tryout system. Formal summer tryouts will be held in early May to give every player the opportunity to make the team. Players selected to the "Travel" team will be expected to:
1. Make lacrosse their primary sport in the spring and summer. Meaning that missing lacrosse practices or games for other sports will be frowned upon (Note: However, we do understand family vacation time needs.)
2. Attend summer practices two to three times weekly with games primarily on weekends.
3. Practice independently on skills and drills taught by coaches.
4. Represent Woodstock Travel with the highest levels of competitiveness and sportsmanship.

Notes
- Travel/hotel accommodations are not included.
- All costs MUST be paid before participation in tournaments, etc.
- We will work to get group rates for any camps offered to the team; however, these costs are independent of the Woodstock Recreation program.
